About

From the moment the first enslaved Africans arrived in the United States, through Reconstruction, war, Jim Crow, and the civil rights movement, they have influenced American culture through the communities in which they lived, died, worked, and worshipped.

Cultural Experience Tours aim to highlight stories of how Black and African Americans shaped Houston’s, Fourth Ward.  Through walking tours, we will help bring to life genuine African American history and culture in Freedmen’s Town, Fourth Ward, Houston, Texas.  We conduct walking tours in group sizes consisting of one person or more through various medians and locations, including walking and virtual tours.

Tourists will have the opportunity to experience first-hand the rich legacy of our ancestors and walk on the same iconic paved brick streets.  The paved brick streets allow generations to connect and serves as an anchor to our community, making Freedmen’s Town an outstanding designation.
